Registry Watch: 158,150 verified collision and automotive business records, 3,722 new records this week

The registry now tracks 158,150 collision and automotive business records across all 50 states, each checked against official records nightly. This week the registered layer added 3,722 records against 534 removed, Florida license churn came into focus, and a dedup pass deliberately trimmed the published count in favor of accuracy. The totals below are point-in-time and shift every night as registers update. Nothing here is estimated.

The registry in numbers

The directory currently holds 158,150 business records and 168,802 B2B records. Of those, 90,323 carry a match to an official license register drawn from 9 state licensing systems, and 1,770 shops hold at least one OEM certification. Beyond licensing, 63,009 records carry a federal compliance match and 9,882 hold a certification record, while 34,354 listings include a working website and 4,176 belong to a chain or multi-shop operator. Coverage spans all 50 states.

New shops surfaced this week

The registered layer -- shops surfaced from public registers before they enter the main directory -- moved from 22,988 records on 2026-07-13 to 26,160. That reflects 3,722 records added and 534 removed over the week. The layer is fed by government NAICS 811121 business registers, EPA, OSHA, and SBA overlays, and state Secretary of State filings. A record has to clear these sources before it is a candidate for the live directory.

License watch: Florida

A 2026-07-18 pull from Florida's FDACS register found 1,749 licenses no longer active, a class that covers expired, cancelled, closed, denied, and terminated statuses. Of those, 1,041 are strictly expired. Miami-Dade records are not retrievable from FDACS search, so both figures understate the real total. For consumers the point is practical: a license can lapse between visits, so verify a shop before you commit to work. Consumers should treat any single register as one input, not the last word. Verified Florida shops are listed directly.

MSO footprint tracker

The five largest multi-shop operators we track: Caliber Collision at 2,070 locations, Gerber Collision & Glass at 1,902, Crash Champions at 1,475, Classic Collision at 633, and CARSTAR at 566. Caliber Collision and Gerber Collision & Glass remain the two largest footprints, each well ahead of Crash Champions. Every count here is locations we can currently attribute to each brand, not a company-reported total. Consolidation stays concentrated at the top of the group.

Data-quality note

This week's dedup pass removed 9,546 records that duplicated existing base listings, 637 that duplicated other registered-layer entries, and 465 address variants of records already held. Deduplication runs before any promotion to the live layer, so inflated records never reach a shopper. That is why the published count can fall even as new shops arrive: we would rather show a lower true number than a higher inflated one. Our how our data is verified page details the checks behind every listing.

The registry refreshes nightly. Registry Watch reports publish weekly.

Every figure in this report is produced by the directory's automated verification pipeline from official state registers and federal records, then mechanically cross-checked against the published dataset before release. Counts are point-in-time and move nightly by design. This is aggregate industry reporting: not legal, insurance, or investment advice.
