The registry now holds 154,217 business records across all 50 states, of which 66,058 are collision-classified body shops. The registered layer contracted this week, with more records removed than added as sources refreshed. Florida's license file shows 2,114 records no longer active, and the weekly dedup pass again published lower-but-true counts.
The registry in numbers
The live totals as of the 2026-08-02 pull:
- 154,217 total business records (body shops plus mechanics, tire, muffler and dealer records on the same state auto-repair rosters)
- 66,058 collision-classified body shops
- 165,315 B2B records
- 92,271 licensed records, drawn from 9 licensed state registers
- 8,773 OEM-certified shops

The total is a count of records, not of collision shops. Roughly two in five are collision-classified; the remainder are adjacent auto-repair trades that share the licensing rosters we read.
New shops surfaced this week
The registered layer, our government-sourced verification tier, moved from a baseline of 15,878 records on 2026-07-27 to 15,381 this week. The pass added 6,941 records and removed 7,438, a net contraction as stale filings aged out faster than new ones landed. This layer is fed by NAICS-811121 auto-body registers, EPA, OSHA and SBA compliance overlays, and state Secretary of State filings. Removals are not closures; a record leaves the layer when its source register drops or supersedes it, which is why the count moves both directions each week.
License watch: Florida
Florida's file lists 2,114 records no longer active, the broader class that combines expired, cancelled, closed and denied statuses. Of those, 1,301 are strictly expired. The rest carry a non-expired inactive status and should not be read as lapsed licenses. These figures are point-in-time as of the 2026-08-02 pull and move nightly. Consumers can verify a shop before booking work, and browse the state roster on our Florida page. An inactive or expired license is a reason to confirm current standing directly, not a verdict on the business.

Caliber's footprint remains larger than the next two networks combined. The five together account for a small share of the 66,058 collision-classified shops, so the collision market stays predominantly independent even as the largest networks continue to hold the top of the table.
Data-quality note
This week's dedup pass dropped 10,097 records as duplicates of the base file, 815 as duplicates already inside the registered layer, and 351 as address variants of an existing record. We remove these rather than let them inflate the count, which is why our published totals run lower than raw source sums. The method is documented in how our data is verified. A lower count that is true is worth more than a higher one that double-counts.
